Croucher Needham and CNM Advisory are excited to announce another year of support for the rising star that is British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) driver Ash Sutton, who was yesterday announced as the new driver for Team BMR and the factory backed Subaru.
Ash Sutton was first approached by team owner Warren Scott at the back end of 2014 to be a part of their new driver programme. After a very strong year in Renault UK Clio Cup; wrapping up the two key titles up for grabs, followed up by a impressive debut season in the BTCC; securing the Jack Sears Trophy. Doors opened at Team BMR due to a change of its driver line-up and that’s when conversations began. The long term plan for Ash and Warren was always to step up to the Factory Team creating this stepping stone to the pinnacle of British Motorsport.
Ash is delighted to move into the rear wheel drive Subaru, saying yesterday:
“I am over the moon to be offered such a great opportunity. I joined the Team BMR Academy at the end of the 2014, signing a two-year deal to race in the UK Clio Cup Championship – with a view to working our way up through the 2015/16 seasons. That two-year deal soon turned into one, and 2016 saw me sat in a BTCC Car. Not for one second did I think that two years down the line I would be a part of the BMR factory team; let alone in such a newly bred BTCC manufacture as Subaru. I thought I had hit the jackpot in my debut season in securing a manufacture drive; but now being a part of Subaru, and the package that comes with that, has certainly topped it for me.”
Of his ongoing relationship with CNM Advisory and Simon Needham, Ash Sutton said:
“Back at the start of the 2016 season I was introduced to Simon Needham and CNM Advisory. I was so close to securing my debut season in the BTCC, but not close enough until CNM came onboard this new adventure. This was the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle to make my dream come true. Since having Simon onboard we have formed a great partnership between the pair of us. We have a lot of new and exciting things planned for 2017 and I can’t wait to get started and continue this new journey. I can’t thank Simon enough for his continued support over the past year and going into this season.”
Simon and the rest of the CNM Advisory team wish Ash all the best for 2017 and look forward to an exciting season in BTCC.
