Looking back, it would appear that I’ve not had the most varied of careers, having joined the Saffron Walden office of Shipleys back in 1996, straight from University. In that time, the faces around me in the office have changed a bit (although it’s amazing how many are still the same), and even the name above the door has changed, following the changeover to being part of this business in 2012.
The reality has been somewhat different, serving a very diverse, wide ranging client base, covering everything from farming through to coach building. The bulk of my experience has been built up as audit and accounts manager for the office, however my time has also encompassed considerable corporate tax and VAT work. Along with the rest of the team in the business, I see it as my goal to make sure that we offer a high quality service to our clients, taking the time to genuinely understand their needs, so that we can deliver the right service for them, rather than just the default answers.
Outside work, I am a keen cricketer, though unfortunately, my enthusiasm for the sport significantly outweighs my talent. I’m also a fan of Stoke City Football Club which has more often than not had to be a labour of love over the years. As my figure will attest, I am also keen on food and drink, particularly pies!
